K & E |Best Friends, Boots, and Backroads | Shelbyville Kentucky

There’s something truly special about growing up in Kentucky — the rolling fields, the rustic barns, the smell of fresh-cut hay, and the friendships that feel like home. Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing two best friends, both high school teens, who wanted to celebrate their bond with a fun and heartfelt country-themed photoshoot right here in Shelbyville.

These two girls have been inseparable since grade school, and their personalities shined through every frame — laughter, inside jokes, and all the little looks that only best friends understand. They wanted something that felt real — not overly posed, but full of life and color, the kind of images that will remind them of this beautiful season of friendship for years to come.

We chose a sun-soaked field on the edge of Shelby County, complete with a weathered barn, wildflowers, and a fence line that seemed to stretch forever. The girls wore their favorite denim, cowboy boots, and simple sundresses that perfectly fit the country vibe. As the golden hour light poured over the hills, we captured everything from playful twirls to quiet, candid moments that showed just how close they are.

While I’m best known for my wedding photography across Shelbyville, Louisville, and Lexington, sessions like this remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place — it’s all about connection. Whether it’s two best friends celebrating their bond or a couple beginning their forever, every photo tells a story worth remembering.

If you’ve been thinking about capturing your own story — whether it’s a friendship session, senior portraits, or your upcoming wedding — I’d love to help you bring your vision to life.
