There are moments in this job that feel like a full-circle gift, and photographing Baby Jack’s in-home newborn session was absolutely one of them. As a Louisville-based wedding photographer, I’ve had the honor of capturing countless love stories at the very beginning — the “I do,” the first kiss, the sparkler exits, the start of a brand-new chapter. But every now and then, I get invited back to document the chapters that follow. And that’s what made this session so special.

I first met Ashley and Ryan on their wedding day, a celebration filled with joy, easy laughter, and the kind of love that radiates long after the last dance. When they reached out to tell me they had welcomed a baby boy — sweet Jack — and wanted me to photograph their first days at home as a family of three, my heart just about melted.
Walking into their home felt like revisiting an old friend. They bought a farmhouse over 100 years old in Pleasureville, Kentucky. The framed wedding photos I took for them on the wall reminded me just how quickly time moves, and how magical it is to see their love story continuing to grow.
One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer in Louisville is the relationships that last long after the bouquet toss. Getting to see my couples transition into parenthood is such a privilege. It’s a reminder that photography isn’t just about documenting a single day — it’s about preserving legacies, milestones, and the quiet little moments that tell the real story.
Capturing Baby Jack’s newborn session was a heart-filling reminder of why I love this job so much. To Ashley & Ryan, thank you for welcoming me back into your lives. It was an honor to meet Jack and document the beginning of this beautiful new chapter.
Here’s to many more memories — and all the sweet baby snuggles to come.
